The lawspeaker (I'm not even going to try that in Old Norse, which is
essentially what Icelandic is).

As it was explained to me, I was standing on the site at the time,
the lawspeaker had to remember all the laws. He spoke 1/3 of them at
the (ISTR yearly) meeting, at the next meeting he spoke the next 1/3.
However, my memory may be imperfect on this matter.
