Simon, all:

This may be slightly off-topic, but what is your take on the new air
passenger profiling system being mooted in the US?  According to this
article in Salon, ( http://tinylink.com/?nReGx0kwzV ) the US would be using
travel reservation systems to pull the data.  These systems are global,
meaning that EU travel records would also be available for snooping, whether
or not one ever traveled to the US.  This chart (
http://www.dontspyon.us/chart.html ) seems to do a good job of explaining
how the system is supposed to work.
