Specifically, reading via the mail2news gateway on www.gmane.org with
a newreader that supports scoring. I can particularly recommend the
adaptive scoring feature in gnus.
Or the Cypherpunks approach - individuals can subscribe to filtered
views of the list, sans anything the moderator of that filter considers
off-topic and/or spam. replies go to the main list, to be filtered again
before delivery (so you can post to a filtered list, be seen posting
from an unfiltered list, but have your posting blocked due to policy)
Those of us who don't feel the need for someone else to decide what we
should read, can continue to read the main list, and put up with all the
"where did you get that? I didn't see the post you replied to" from the
filtered users :)
