It is a shame that email clients in general do not have the facility to
treat a digest as multiple emails, thus giving the user the ability to
reply to an individual email as though it has arrived on its own. There
are probably format issues to be thought through, but it should not be that
difficult to achieve.

I agree, and I have changed the list settings to do this (messages that
have "ukcrypto digest" anywhere in the Subject header will be referred
to me for moderation; unless there's a good reason to make an exception,
I will reject the messages with a note to the sender that they should
correct the subject).
